kate's family; in the garden - kootenays photographer

Kate's family.
In their garden.
It's where you can find this family working, playing, giggling and cooking on the bbq on any given summer evening.  There you will also find snap peas and succulents, wildflowers and ornamental grasses, heritage lilacs and a new swing-set for the kids.
The perfect place to feel the earth between your toes.
Kate wished for an extended family session to document her parents' visit from Colorado.  They are a testimony of the importance of the family album.  Their previous session was with Mike's mom who was battling ill-health at the time. She has since passed.
And when I look back on our previous session, and to our latest, I reflect on Kate's beautiful family with the words of William Ellery Channing:
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and refinement
rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard,
think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with
open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word,
to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.
I appreciate being a part of these small but most meaningful moments:  famililies, weddings, babies. And to document people's living symphony.  Thanks for having me back Kate and for reminding me of the tremendous beauty in the smallest of 'things'.
