portland's voodoo doughnuts; photographer travel diaries

The Space Needle, Voodoo Doughnut, Bass Pro Shop and Mt, Rainier's colorful character captured our attention as we traveled to Portland via Vancouver.  See 1st post HERE.
I was wielding both a new camera and manual lens, which explains why some car captures are soft but the memories remain sharp.  Anyone want to buy a manual 85mm 1.8 lens?
We couldn't make it to Portland without waiting in the massive line-up for Voodoo Doughnuts.  It exceeded my expectations, even as a non-pastry lover.  Warm doughnuts covered in various kid's cereals, bacon, peanut butter, sprinkles and cookies filled the revolving dessert case with a line snaking through the store under brass chandeliers and an upside-down doughnut. We encountered some of the most interesting people-watching in the alley under the glow of string lights and sparkle bricks in this sketchy part of town.
The VD line-up, which spilled into the streets that night, paled in comparison to the block-long wait I witnessed the next day.  I just wished I had bought a dozen.
